'The late Ranee van Eck (secretary for 27 years), with loved ones

The Club was formed in 1971 for the welfare and promotion of Pyrenean Mountain Dogs (PMDs) in Victoria and Australia as a whole. PMDs were first brought to Australia in 1843 and used in their traditonal role of livestock guardians but died out here in the late 1800s. It was not until 1939 before the PMDs were again imported into this country.
