Ch Towsytyke Penny Pitstop

Sire: Grand Ch/N.Z.Nawlene Hi Eclipse
Dam: Ch Kirkcairn Sassy Sorrel
D.O.B. 5/6/01

Lesley Roebig showed Penny in South Eastern Queensland and the Northern Rivers of New South Wales at the beginning of her show career. During this time, Lesley and Penny “had a ball”. Penny has an incredible show history and in a short space of time amassed in excess of 25 classes in group – 14 of these were Puppy in Group. She is also a Puppy in show winner.

Penny attained the final 25 points needed for her Australian Championship title just 2 WEEKS out of puppy class with double figure challenges. Penny has continued in the footsteps of her Dam, Aust Ch Kirkcairn Sassy Sorrel who was also campaigned by Lesley and Kristy Roebig. Sassy was virtually “unbeaten” for bitch challenge in her short show career. She was Reserve Challenge bitch at the 2000 Brisbane Royal and Challenge bitch at the Sporting Terrier Club of Queensland’s championship show under Mareth Kipp from the U.S.A. This was a 17-point bitch challenge and she also won Runner up Best of breed over the dogs. Sassy was returned to Towsytyke and was mated to Gr Ch/N.Z.Ch Nawlene Hi Eclipse. Sassy was only selectively shown during 2002 at the bigger shows in Sydney under the International judges. She consistently won Challenge bitch and Runner up Best of breed against the dogs. Sassy is now retired from the show ring.

Penny was awarded Reserve Challenge bitch at the 2002 Brisbane Royal and went on to win Challenge bitch (12 points) and Runner up Best of Breed at the 2002 Sporting Terrier Club of Queensland’s Championship show.

In early 2003 Penny came back home to Towsytyke to prepare her for the Sydney Royal. She was awarded Challenge bitch at the 2003 Toowoomba Royal and 2003 Sydney Royal – both under International judges.

In May 2003 we took a team to Melbourne to show at the Cairn Terrier Club of Victoria’s Specialty show. The judge was Mr Bill Cammish from the United Kingdom who breeds Cairn Terriers under the “Camcairn” prefix.

From an entry of 61 BITCHES, Penny was awarded CHALLENGE BITCH, OPPOSITE SEX IN SHOW AND INTERMEDIATE IN SHOW.

Here is Mr Cammish”s critique:

"Red brindle. Possessed the “cat face” that I was looking for – head of equilateral proportions, deep stop, and dark eye. Showed all out to gain the C.C."

Penny was not 2 years old at the time of this show and we were thrilled that the judge would “come down the line” to award the challenge to a bitch from the younger classes.

She was awarded Bitch challenge at Launceston Royal under M. Tougas from Canada.

She won BOB at Hobart Royal under K. Kashawagi from Japan.

Then she was awarded bitch CC at the Sporting Terrier Club of Tasmania under K. Lovell. Penny had a very successful 2003.

2004 started well for Penny winning Bitch CC and Runner Up to Best of Breed at the Sydney Royal under Mr Lars Adeheimer from Sweden.

In 2005 Penny was again awarded Bitch CC at Sydney Royal under another Swedish judge. She then made the trip to Brisbane Royal and won bitch CC.

Penny also won bitch CC at Perth Royal in 2005. Dog CC and Best of Breed went to Aust Ch Towsytyke Thisizit so it was a clean sweep for the Towsytykes.

Penny is now retired but may come out for very special shows.

She has been a very special girl for us and her show record speaks for itself. She will be hard to replace in the show ring as she never let us down. She is a true “show girl.”
